- Lynda Reiss
Lynda Reiss is an award winning shorts director who’s character driven films explore the darker parts of the human condition, but these stories are given a levity through the humor in her voice. Born in New York and raised in the UK, she has travelled the world, been a nanny for the super-rich, a Prop House owner, and a single mom, as well as having had an incredibly successful career as a Property Master on projects such as American Beauty, True Detective and Stranger Things. (Translated, that is 25 years in the most exclusive Film School Grad program ever.) She has also Production Designed several shorts, and been guest speaker on the topic of world building at FIDM, USC, LMU, and The Arts Center. When this work could no longer satisfy her creative soul she decided to follow her dream of directing, and made her first film. This short, Ready To Go won 27 awards on the festival circuit, and was Oscar qualified for 2020. Lynda is a fellow of the Sony Pictures Diverse Directors Program, and a 2019 fellow of the WIF mentorship program. She is in development on two feature films, and a limited series, which she has written. Her second short, Lancaster Park, a pilot, was made specifically to show the ability to direct television, and her third short, Perfect Match is on its festival run now. She is who you want to be working with when you are shooting in some grotty alley at three in the morning.
“The complexities of the worlds we create are largely the result of Lynda’s talents and her inherent, poetic understanding of story.”
Nic Pizzolatto – Creator – True Detective
“She has an innate ability for storytelling”
Lynda Obst – Producer
“Lynda has fantastic taste, and has the business savvy to be able to work at many budget levels. She can be amazingly creative with very little when she has to and can also use the money wisely when given more to work with. Every choice she makes goes on the screen and is crucial to the story.”
Aida Rodgers – EP – Barry, Perry Mason, True Detective
