RESOLVE/EDITING TRAINING

Another successful class learned the basics of DaVinci Resolve, with a focus on editing, taught by certified instructor Nathan Morgan.

Future classes will cover more in-depth editing, as well as other toolsets available in DaVinci Resolve. 

COCKTAIL PARTY AND TASTY BITES

Attendees enjoyed complimentary drinks and snacks as they mingled and made connections with fellow filmmakers. They also had the opportunity to check out amazing lenses from Schneider Optics, cool plugins from RE:Vision Effects, and play with both DaVinci Resolve Studio as well as the cool Micro and Mini Color panels from Blackmagic Design!

Filmmaker Jenn Page: Lessons learned on my rise to the middle

Jenn Page shared funny and informative insights into her travels as a filmmaker, and provided some unique and valuable tips and tricks in how to navigate the wild world of filmmaking. It was an entertaining talk, followed by a great Q&A session, with great questions from the audience!

Inspiring Art: How Cinematographers Find Their Style

Cinematographers Favienne Howsepian and Sara Ross Samko gave us a lively and informative talk about their vision of style in cinematography, as well as how they got from student to professional in the hectic and often dramatic world of film and tv production. The panel was hosted by our own Nicki Sun, and included some great questions from the crowd, from conversations on how to battle the issue of low diversity in the industry through how to manage relationships with directors.

The Sun Cinematography Award

Steve Edell from The Sun Cinematography Awards came to present this year’s 1st place prize to Becky Baihui Chen, who will be mentored by Peter Levy. 2nd place went to Shelby Adair, who will be mentored by Anthony Kuhnz. The audience had the opportunity to see their demo reels and congratulate the winners!

She is also a huge advocate for more women representation in media—both in front and behind the camera—and enjoys partnering with several tech & film companies who support and make inclusion a priority. Her latest venture includes helping companies leverage and build brand awareness through creative digital campaigns, videos, and social media through her company, Nicki Sun Media.
