A Recap of Our January 12th, 2019 Event!

RESOLVE/EDITING TRAINING

A full class attended the first ever Blackmagic Collective Resolve editing class on Saturday afternoon. Taught by certified instructor Nathan Morgan, students learned the basics of Resolve, from ingest through delivery, and the many tools on the edit panel.

Future classes will cover more in-depth editing, as well as other toolsets available in DaVinci Resolve.

COCKTAIL PARTY AND TASTY BITES

The 6pm cocktail party featured an open bar and complimentary appetizers, while guest mingled, met other members, and enjoyed reviewing cool gear from Sigma, Hot Rod Cameras, DJI and Blackmagic Design.

ROY WAGNER, ASC AND ``STAND!``

Moderated by Christian Sebaldt ASC (Lucifer, For the People), Roy Wagner joinedRobert Adetuyi, the director of his latest project “Stand!”,  and discussed the challenges of producing an independent musical. The audience enjoyed the stunning theatrical trailer as well as a Behind the Scenes film with Roy discussing his use of the URSA Mini Pro as his camera of choice on the film.

YOUNG COLORISTS PANEL

The Young Colorists panel, moderated by filmmaker Jenn Page, was a lively discussion of the journey each colorist on the panel had taken through the field. Filled with funny stories about their experiences, as well as valuable tips and tricks, not only for the young colorist but also the young filmmaker, the panel was just another highlight of the evening. The panel featured Asa Fox (EFILM), Bryan Smaller (Company 3), Arianna Shining Star Pane (Apache),  and Matt Wallach (EFILM).

ANIMALCAMP SHORT FILMS: A PRIMER

A collective of their own, AnimalCamp teams up young, innovative filmmakers, and they showed some of their skills at the festival. Two films, “Running Away” and “Man of the People” gave us all a taste of what films could be included in the Festival. See the films here soon!

She is also a huge advocate for more women representation in media—both in front and behind the camera—and enjoys partnering with several tech & film companies who support and make inclusion a priority. Her latest venture includes helping companies leverage and build brand awareness through creative digital campaigns, videos, and social media through her company, Nicki Sun Media.
